A supportive and judgment-free space for anyone seeking personal defense solutions. We specialize in assisting beginners, families and underrepresented communities.

Three ways in. Pick the one that sounds like you.
Start with The Basics. Safety and proper handling, a hard cap of eight students, and nobody is going to make you feel stupid for asking. There is a rifle version too.
Beyond the Basics picks up where The Basics left off — half a day building on the fundamentals you already have. Flexible Carry is here too, for carrying concealed somewhere other than the waistband: bags, purses, the holsters nobody covers.
Most of self defense happens long before anyone touches a weapon. Awareness, de-escalation, making a good first decision — and pepper spray you take home with you.
Times are Central. Range fees are paid in cash on arrival and cover the whole day.

Karen and Courtney met in 2017 (ish) at the same firearms course, and it soon became rare to see one without the other. Together they have over 31 years of experience.

Karen has a bit of the Peter Pan Syndrome. She served over 17 years in the military across two branches — the Army and the Marine Corps — accumulating 7 MOS designators, 2 instructor designators, and a great deal of "other duties as directed" experience. She has been an intelligence analyst, a HAWK missile system operator, a clerk-typist, and a Military Police...person, and normally ended up in a Battalion-or-above staff position in training or analysis. If there was a weird or new job that needed doing, Karen got tasked with it.

Courtney served 14 years in the Army as both Military Police and Corrections, finishing as a Platoon Sergeant. She then spent 8 years with the Kentucky Department of Corrections as a Probation and Parole Officer, supervising a specialized caseload. While with KyDOC she was a Field Training Officer, a Fentanyl Responder, a Firearms Instructor and a Crisis Negotiator. During that time she was also a firearms instructor and private security agent for The Bulwarks for about 6 years — which is where she met Karen.

Range notes and straight answers — the things we say in class, written down.
We loooooooove some OC spray - "pepper spray" in the common parlance. There are a BUNCH of manufacturers with a variety of products out there, but we only recommend TWO brands.
All of these items can be found on Amazon, and this is all stuff we personally use.
Our services are available primarily in southern Kentucky. For courses outside this area, just ask.
